The Six Nations Wine Challenge
The Six Nations Wine Challenge is a Global Wine Events Platform delivering a rare & exclusive opportunity to all participating wine estates, media & partners by identifying, recognising and showcasing to both trade and consumers the very best of the best ‘NEW WORLD WINES’ and promoting their outstanding quality, diversity & richness annually.
“Because the wines are all selected by each of the judges the standard of wine quality must surely be higher than any competition of this size in the world”.
Bob Campbell – New Zealand Master of Wine
The Sixteen classes are:
Sparkling, Riesling, Aromatic Whites, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, White Blends, Other White Varieties, Pinot Noir, Merlot/Carmenere, Shiraz/Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Other Red Verieties (Medium Bodied), Other Red Varieties (Full Bodied), Bordeaux Blends, Red Blends (non Bordeaux) & Dessert Wines.
This is the only wine show in the world where the wines are entered following an invitation from each country’s wine writer and Judge.
”Because the wines are all selected by each of the judges the standard of wine quality must surely be higher than any competition of this size in the world”.
Bob Campbell MW.
The objective is to discover the New World Champions by inviting a judge from each country to choose their best wines and have them all compete against each other in a giant blind tasting of 600 wines. Each Judge is set the task of selecting 100 wines across the 16 Classes with a maximum of 10 in any one class – the best in their country regardless of company size or quantity available.
Learn just how our judges actually understand each wine in order for them to rate and score each subtilty and complexity.
Its easy to group The Six Nations Wine Challenge in the general “Wine Show” classification – and whilst we conform to the standard tried and tested methodologies, The Six Nations Wine Challenge is unique in so many ways…
It’s not just all about the judging and honoring the worlds leading wines – after all, wine is synonymous with celebration! Come and join us…
